This Privacy Policy explains how DESI, operated by Desi Drivers LLC ("we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your information when you use our mobile application, the desidrivers.com website, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: name, phone number, email address, and optional profile photo.
- Driver information: for drivers, driver's license details, background-check results, and vehicle information.
- Location information: precise real-time location during trips to enable pickup, drop-off, and live trip tracking; pickup and drop-off locations for completed trips.
- Transaction information: ride details, fares, and payment records processed through our payment processor (Stripe). We never store full card numbers.
- Safety recordings: dashcam video (interior and exterior) and audio recorded during trips for the safety and protection of riders and drivers. Both riders and drivers consent to recording by using the Service.
- Communications: in-app messages between riders and drivers, and customer support communications.
- Device information: device type, operating system, push notification tokens, and IP address.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide the Service: match riders with vetted drivers, process payments, and enable real-time tracking.
- Safety and security: driver background checks, identity verification, fraud prevention, incident investigation, and insurance claims support.
- Communications: service notifications, account verification codes, trip status alerts, and customer support.
- Improve the Service and comply with applicable laws.
3. SMS / Text Messaging & Your Consent Data
If you opt in to receive text messages from DESI (for example, account verification codes, trip status alerts, or app-download links), the following applies:
No third-party marketing sharing. Mobile phone numbers, text messaging originator opt-in data, and SMS consent information are not shared with, sold to, rented to, or traded with any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. This information is used solely to deliver the DESI messages you requested.
- Message frequency varies based on your account activity (typically a few messages per ride, plus occasional opt-in promotions — never more than a few per month).

4. How We Share Information
- With other users: riders see their driver's first name, photo, and live location during a trip; drivers see the rider's first name and pickup/drop-off details.
- Service providers: vendors that operate strictly on our behalf under contract — payment processing (Stripe), background checks (Checkr), identity verification, SMS delivery (Twilio), email delivery (Resend), and cloud hosting. These providers may not use your information for their own purposes.
- Safety and legal: with insurers, law enforcement, or courts when required to investigate an incident, respond to legal process, or protect the rights and safety of users.
- We do not sell personal information.
5. Data Retention
Account data is retained while your account is active. Dashcam recordings and trip evidence records are retained for 90 days unless preserved for an active incident, claim, or legal hold. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
6. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit, hashed evidence records, access controls, and vendor security review. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
7. Your Rights (California Residents)
Under the CCPA/CPRA you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you will not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Submit requests to privacy@desidrivers.com.
8. Children
The Service is not directed to anyone under 21. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
